Mother & Son (a preview for Shelley)

I could tell you a lot of things about the fun time I had working with Shelley and Kai, but honestly?  The thing that struck me over and over again, the thing that stayed with me, was the deep bond they share.  Every look between them, every interaction, every touch, every glance…  everything overflowed with love.  And it was a beautiful, beautiful thing to be able to witness and commemorate.

Thank you Shelley, thank you Kai, for allowing me to photograph the wonderful bond you share.

All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this – as in other ways – they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it. — John Berger
