Persephone & Demeter

The Power of SHe is about how we as self-identified Women define ourselves in light of how both the media and society set out to define, and confine, us.  It is about finding unity in a diverse population.  It is about celebrating ourselves and the immense power we each have within us.

Women are amazing. We are strong. We are courageous. It’s time we were celebrated, for all that we are.

The Power of SHe has been exhibited twice now.  It debuted at the sold out Mosaic art and fashion show, part of Pride Week 2012, on June 13th.  It was shown again on October 7th and 8th 2012 at Sara Waldbillig’s One Queer Show: Challenging the Identity of Women.  This instillation is still in progress, but is available for exhibit on a limited basis.  Contact Tobi-Dawne for details.

Artist Tobi-Dawne Smith is actively seeking participants for her Spring and Summer shooting schedule.  Self-identified Women of all body types, orientations, ages, and nationalities are welcome.  Contact her using the floating “Contact TD” form located near the top of this page for more information on how you can volunteer to be a part of this very important project.  She is currently looking for a Mother involved in a tandem nursing relationship, a soon to be Mother who would be comfortable posing nude (or semi-nude) outdoors, and a group of close friends who would be willing to pose together in their underthings.  However, others are still welcome and encouraged to contact her to become involved.
